Elliott support petition

The Pittsburgh Zipline Company (PZC) is attempting to construct a zipline from the West End - Elliott Overlook Park, over the Ohio River, to the North Shore.  The support of the Elliott community is essential for the project to move forward. 

PZC believes the Zipline project would directly benefit and enhance the Elliott community in a number of respects, including the following:   

·      Tens of thousands of users would travel to the zipline launch site in the park each year.  This would significantly increase awareness of the neighborhood and the number of visitors coming to and through the neighborhood, with corresponding positive visibility and impacts on local businesses.

·      The project would require and involve enhancing the West End - Overlook park, including a material improvement to, or replacement of, the community center building located within the park.  The new building will have a public rooftop observation platform, a larger catering kitchen, and an indoor/outdoor rental space with views of the Golden Triangle.  This new, or redesigned, structure will also house PZC's Zipline operation.  

·      Elliott residents would receive preferential consideration for employment and workforce development opportunities related to the zipline project, to the extent legally permitted.  Elliott residents will also receive discounts on Zipline tickets.

·      The zipline is estimated to provide dozens of jobs and to generate significant tourism activities and associated benefits.  

PZC still needs to address real estate and other legal matters relating to the project.  The support of the Elliott community is critical for the project to move forward. 

We are asking members of the Elliott community to sign the attached petition to indicate their support for the zipline project and the potential benefits it will provide.
